The Appleton Library relies on regular volunteer staff to ensure we are open twenty-one hours a week, including two evenings. Without the support of our committed volunteers, this vital community resource could not continue.

Wednesday, October 4 and 11, 6:30 -8:00 pm: Birding by Ear. Have you ever wondered what that bird is singing just out of view? Then join Maine Guide Gary Roberts for the last two weeks of a 4-week class on bird identification not with binoculars or spotting scope, but by listening to a species individual song and calls. No charge. Please contact the Appleton Library at 785-5656 to register.
Tuesday, October 17, 3:00 – 4:00 pm: Fiber Arts Tuesday. Itching to complete that fiber arts project? Come and stitch with Penelope Olson and Julie Sells on the third Tuesday of every month.
Thursday, October 19, 6:30 – 7:30 pm: Third Thursday Talks: Introduction to Astrology. Please join Elisabeth Goodridge for an introduction to Astrology. Lisa will provide us with the basic tools of constructing a Horoscope, for curious beginners.
Saturday, October 21, 10:30 am – Noon: Decorate a Mask for Halloween. Join us to decorate masks for Halloween! Jackie Dunham will lead this activity providing masks she's created. We have paint, glitter, glue, and everything you need. For planning purposes, please RSVP.
The Mildred Stevens Williams Memorial Library provides free library services for all members of our community, offering print and non-print materials, computer access, literary programs for children and adults, and facilities for educational, charitable, cultural and artistic endeavors thereby encouraging a love of reading and learning for all.
Peruse our ongoing Book Sale tables. Our selection is ever changing. Prices for the new and gently used books are: $2-hard cover, $1-paperback, and 50¢ for small books. This remains our most frequent and consistent fundraising event.
Please consider donating new books or gently used books to our collection and Book Sales table. Drop off your donation at our Circulation Desk. We will provide a donation receipt upon request.
The Appleton Library proudly offers a large variety of books, movies, audiobooks, and reference materials for Adults, Juniors, and Young Children.
