The Appleton Library relies on regular volunteer staff to ensure we are open twenty-one hours a week, including two evenings. Without the support of our committed volunteers, this vital community resource could not continue.

Thursday, August 17, 6:30 – 7:30 pm: Third Thursday Talks: Solar Eclipse 2017. What’s a solar eclipse? Will we see a total eclipse or partial on August 21st? Can we make our own viewers? We will discuss the answers and learn more about this celestial event.
Saturday, August 19, 10:30 – 11:30 am: Bikes for Books Party! Join us for the raffle of six bikes generously donated by the Masons. Be sure to let us know how many books or pages you have read prior to the raffle, so you have chances to win a new bike! You do not have to be present for the raffle.
Tuesday, August 22, 5:00 – 5:30 pm: Back-to-School Martial Arts Program David Stearns of Midcoast Martial Arts is offering a Martial Arts Back-to-School program at Appleton Library. School aged children are welcome!
Saturday, August 26, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm: Repair Café. This free event pairs skilled repair specialists with items that can be repaired rather than thrown out. A team of volunteer repair specialists with very varied skills will be available to help teach you to fix your: appliance (blenders etc.), furniture, sewing project, bicycle, computer, watch, and more. We’re looking for you to bring in your fixable item and we’re looking for skilled repair specialists. Interested? Contact Julie at 785-5656
Peruse our ongoing Book Sale tables. Our selection is ever changing. Prices for the new and gently used books are: $2-hard cover, $1-paperback, and 50¢ for small books. This remains our most frequent and consistent fundraising event.
Please consider donating new books or gently used books to our collection and Book Sales table. Drop off your donation at our Circulation Desk. We will provide a donation receipt upon request.
The Mildred Stevens Williams Memorial Library provides free library services for all members of our community, offering print and non-print materials, computer access, literary programs for children and adults, and facilities for educational, charitable, cultural and artistic endeavors thereby encouraging a love of reading and learning for all.
